Registered Podiatrist: Tye Lee Tze (Queensland Australia), the first Podiatrist in Singapore in 1993, is Podiatrist to the Singapore Sports Council, Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
What is the most important equipment for performance in sports? 26 bones, 33 joints, over 100 ligaments, muscles, tendons, and a network of nerves & blood vessels working in perfect unison! Any weakness or failure results in poor performance.
- The average person walks over 250,000 km in a life time
- A 2 km run produces over 1,200 foot strikes, each with a force 3 times the body weight
Hence, the foot at some stage develops problems and causes pain. These include: flatfoot, heel pain, high arched foot, shin splints, ankle problems, bunions, corns & callouses etc.
Abnormal movements of the complex joints in the foot also cause related knee, hip and back problems and pain. (See diagram)
Here at The Podiatry Centre, sportsmen/women, through treatment and management of the foot by their Podiatrist, minimise injuries and can optimise performance.
